Millburn, NJ — June 2026 — Mt. Zion AME Church in Millburn, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Eyesha K. Marable, MFA, is proud to join the Township of Millburn and Black Americans of Millburn Short Hills (BAMS) as a key partner for the 2026 Millburn Juneteenth Celebration, taking place Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 3:00–4:30 PM at Bauer Center, 100 Main Street.
This year’s celebration honors the spirit of freedom through service, music, education, and community unity, with a special township‑wide initiative inspired by agricultural scientist and inventor George Washington Carver. Together, the partners aim to collect 1,000 jars of peanut butter to support families facing food insecurity through the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges.
Rev. Marable, Pastor of Mt. Zion AME Church and Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement at NJPAC, brings her signature blend of faith, cultural celebration, and community empowerment to this year’s Juneteenth program. Her visionary leadership upholds Mt. Zion’s venerable legacy of championing the sacred arts, social justice, and intergenerational service.
“Juneteenth is a sacred moment of remembrance and rejoicing,” said Rev. Eyesha Marable. “Mt. Zion is honored to stand with our partners as we celebrate freedom, uplift our neighbors, and serve families in need. This is how we live our faith — through unity, creativity, and community care.”
The celebration will feature a dynamic jazz performance by the Jarrett Walser Trio. Jarrett Walser is a New Jersey–based drummer and a rising voice in the region’s jazz and creative‑music scene. Walser has performed with acclaimed ensembles across the tri‑state area and leads his own trio, blending jazz tradition with modern expression. His playing is marked by deep groove, dynamic sensitivity, and a commitment to storytelling through rhythm — a perfect musical centerpiece for this Juneteenth gathering, curated by Gregory Burrus Productions.
Mt. Zion joins a powerful coalition of organizations committed to service and cultural celebration, including:
All attendees are encouraged to bring a jar of peanut butter to help reach the 1,000‑jar goal, directly supporting families experiencing food insecurity.
This Juneteenth celebration is free and open to all. Families, neighbors, and community partners are invited to join in a day of freedom, unity, music, and service.
