SOUTH ORANGE, NJ —The South Orange Community Pool will be open to all borough residents through the Fourth of July holiday to provide relief from high temperatures.

Residents without a 2026 Recreation Membership may use the facility during this period but must present proof of South Orange residency, such as a driver's license with a South Orange address, vehicle registration, auto insurance document, or a current utility bill.

"We're pleased to make the South Orange Community Pool available to all residents this week and encourage everyone to enjoy it safely," Mayor Sheena Collum said.

She also urged residents to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, seek cool spaces whenever possible, and check on those who are more vulnerable to heat-related illness.

Residents should be aware that the main pool will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, for a previously scheduled swim meet.

The intermediate pool and wading pool will remain open until 8 p.m.

Officials encourage visitors to arrive early, as attendance is expected to be higher than usual due to the heat, and remind all guests to follow posted pool rules and staff instructions.
