Got A Used Bike Or Sewing Machine? South Orange Wants It Sunday

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Residents with an unused bike or sewing machine have just days to get it ready for a collection coming to South Orange.

The Pedals for Progress collection will run from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the BCB parking lot, 200 Valley Street. The event is sponsored by the Maplewood Rotary Club.

According to South Orange Downtown, bicycles should be rust-free, although bikes with flat tires or in need of some repair will be accepted. Portable sewing machines should be in working condition with a pedal.

The collection marks 35 years of putting unused bicycles and sewing machines to use in the developing world, according to the event listing. Donors will receive a tax-deductible receipt on site.
