7 Car Crash on Icy Route 78 Sends 8 to Hospital
One car slipped on the ice this morning on Rt. 78 east and then all the other cars collided into it, said State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams

Springfield, NJ -- Ice caused a seven car crash, on Route 78 East this morning, sending eight people to the hospital.
The pileup occurred at 5:14 a.m. on the express lane of 78 eastbound near mile marker 50 in Springfield Township, said State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams.
One car skidded on the ice and then all the other cars collided into it. The crash involved seven cars in total with four different accidents -- all fender benders.

One of the vehicles was a commuter van, a Trans Bridge Bus Lines.
In total eight people were injured and taken to Overlook Medical Center in Summit for for minor non-life threatening injuries.

“Ice covered roadway was determined to be a factor in the crash,” Williams said.
