SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The Springfield Township Committee meets Tuesday at 7 p.m., with a packed agenda that includes a potentially significant step toward bringing cannabis retail to town.
Resolution 2026-160, listed for a vote, would re-establish the Township Committee's cannabis subcommittee and authorize the Township Clerk to begin accepting applications for a cannabis retail license — a move that could open the door to legal marijuana sales in Springfield.
The meeting will also include a public hearing and vote on the Township of Springfield's 2026 municipal budget, as well as a first reading of Ordinance 2026-08, which would amend certain land use provisions in the township code. A final hearing on the land use ordinance is scheduled for June 9.
Among other resolutions on the agenda: approval of an agreement with NJDOT for roadway improvements at the Route 22 and Mountain Avenue intersection; the purchase of three new police interceptor utility vehicles at a cost not to exceed $143,235; and authorization for the community pool parking lot to be temporarily used for production-related purposes.
The meeting takes place at Springfield Township Municipal Building, 100 Mountain Ave.
