SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Several vehicle burglaries and attempted break-ins were reported over a two-night period in Springfield, according to police.
Police said the incidents happened across the south side of the township and are reminding residents to take extra steps to help reduce the chance of becoming a target.
Those steps include locking vehicles at all times, even when parked at home, removing key fobs and keys, and avoiding leaving valuables such as wallets, purses, electronics, and packages in plain view.
Residents are also encouraged to use outside lighting when possible and consider home security cameras. Police said suspicious activity should be reported immediately.
Police noted that many vehicle burglaries are crimes of opportunity, where unsecured vehicles or visible items can increase the risk of theft.
No additional details about the incidents were released.
