Attempted Luring Of Springfield Student Reported Thursday

Breaking: The student was waiting for the school bus when a man in a white SUV stopped to ask him if he needed a ride.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — An attempted luring of a Springfield Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School student was reported Thursday morning.

The student was waiting for the school bus when a man in a white SUV stopped to ask him if he needed a ride, according to FMG Principal Tim Kielty.

The student said, "no" and the car pulled away. The driver of the vehicle was described as an older man, according to Kielty.

The incident was immediately reported to the police and police are investigating the incident.

"As parents, please take this opportunity to speak to your child regarding 'stranger danger' and what they should do if they encounter a similar situation," Kielty said.
