SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Meet Bailey! She has been chosen as Patch's Pet Of The Week. Nominate your pet for Springfield's Pet of the Week!

"We are proud to introduce our rescue cat Bailey who we met through SARA Rescue while Christmas shopping at the Gillette Mall last December. We saw her darling personality by the storefront of pet supply stop when my daughter Sarah pressed her face up against the window, and kept resisting my nudges to move along to continue with our Christmas list.

Then my daughter begged to go inside to pet “Rosie” through her cage. When I read the animal rescue bio-sheet posted about how this kitty was found homeless with her siblings behind a warehouse by a dumpster and that all of her siblings had been adopted already and she’s still hoping, it tugged at my heart strings. We left the pet shop and thought about this cat all week long.

Now, one year later and renamed Bailey, she is truly a one of a kind rescue pet who has brought such joy. Shy here at first, but within two months her outgoing personality shined. Now, Bailey greets all visitors with her very sweet demeanor.

You can often see her hanging around our picture window squirrel and bird watching, and even people watching. She doesn’t miss a trick. We always know when someone is walking by in the neighborhood because Bailey gives out one loud meow-type howl to alert us...it’s so cute! I do believe it’s as though our pet is inviting these passerby’s over, because she seems a bit curiously disappointed when they do not ring our doorbell.

Bailey has fun playing cat hockey with her ball and adores her catnip mouse toy. She also enjoys back rubs and pampering with her special hairbrush. Bailey is totally into feeling glamorous and is constantly grooming herself. It is not unusual to see her nail’s polished with a bright festive color ~ Bailey's a diva!

I am grateful to Sara Rescue and all the volunteers helping homeless animals. I must also give a shout out to our community storefronts who actually allow these wonderful rescue organizations precious space towards a great cause. It is another reason why I proudly shop local.
