Cookie Is Springfield's Pet Of The Week

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Meet Cookie! He has been chosen as Springfield Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"Cookie is an amazing pet. He is a Sun Conure. He comes from the Venezuelan amazon forest. He has beautiful colors, but the most amazing thing is how he knows everyone in the family.

We cover him with blankets at night so he can sleep comfortably, and in the morning he pulls the blankets off with his beak. He flies all over the house particularly following my husband who he thinks is his master wherever he goes.

He has learned to open the door of his cage and opens it every morning, and occasionally climbs on top of the cage and flies wherever he wants. He must have acute hearing for he starts screaming when we pull our cars in the driveway.

He is a very social bird, and hates to be alone."
