Lunchtime Film Series at Springfield Free Public Library on Monday, December 22nd

Mon. Dec. 22nd at 1 pm - "Philip Seymour Hoffman: Three Memorable Films" series concludes- Springfield Free Public Library, 66 Mountain Ave.

Playwright John Patrick Shanley adopted his award-winning play of the same name for this memorable film version, and directed the film as well. The story involves events at a NYC Catholic High School in the turbulent 1960s, when a charismatic priest, Father Brendan Flynn (Hoffman) becomes involved in a battle of wills with the strict principal, Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep). Damaging consequences ensue for Father Flynn and the community. The film also stars Amy Adams and Viola Davis. Rated PG-13. 104 minutes.
