Lunchtime Film Series at Springfield Public Library

"Springtime Musicals" series concludes on Monday, May 23rd at 1:00 PM.

On-the-skids Parisian Victoria (Julie Andrews) is rescued by cabaret performer Toddy (Robert Preston). He suggests she play a male impersonator… pretending to be a female impersonator. As “Victor/Victoria,” s/he becomes the toast of Paree, catching the eye of gangster King Marchan (James Garner). Standout performances include Lesley Warren, playing King’s screechy-voiced moll, and Alex Karras as his chief henchman. Victor/Victoria is a remake of Viktor und Viktoria (1931) (reworked as “First a Girl” in 1937). It became a Broadway musical in 1996. 132 minutes. Rated PG.
