Lunchtime Film Series at Springfield Public Library on Monday, June 22nd

Monday, June 22 at 1 pm the "Robin Williams Retrospective" series begins. Springfield Free Public Library, 66 Mountain Ave.

The film version of the wonderful John Irving novel attempts to capture the quirky spirit of the novel while condensing the Irving original.  Mr. Williams shines as Garp, the son of unmarried, unorthodox Jenny Fields (Glenn Close, in her film debut). Though he becomes a successful novelist and is happily married to childhood sweetheart Helen Holm (Mary Beth Hurt), Garp always remains envious of his fearless mother.  The film also includes a delightfully offbeat costarring performance by John Lithgow.  Directed by George Roy Hill.  Rated R.  Admission is free.
