In this 1956 fim directed by Douglas Sirk, Ms. Stanwyck is again teamed with actor Fred MacMurray. She skillfully portrays the sophisticated outsider to postwar suburbia who comes back briefly into the life of her old flame, a toy manufacturer played by Mr. MacMurray, who seems to have become an unappreciated husband and father.
