Man Arrested After Having Loaded Gun At Route 22 Amusement Center

At the scene, police saw the suspect fleeing into a wooded area near the building.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A 20-year-old Union man was arrested and charged after he was caught having a firearm at an amusement center in Springfield.

The 20-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not permitted to carry a firearm, and possession of a high-capacity magazine, according to the Springfield Police Department.

Officers responded to a Route 22 amusement center after a report of a man with a firearm.

At the scene, police saw the suspect fleeing into a wooded area adjacent to the building and after a brief foot chase was able to apprehend the 20-year-old.
