Saint James the Apostle School Celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Advancing Academic Excellence, Fostering Faith, Instilling Integrity…The hallmarks of an education at Saint James the Apostle School.
On Sunday, January 29, 2017, Saint James the Apostle School in Springfield (www.sjspringfield.org) begins its Catholic Schools Week celebration with an Open House from 1:15 PM – 3:00 PM. “Catholic Schools – Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service”. This designated week is an opportunity for Catholic schools throughout the country to showcase the unique educational experience they provide while celebrating their identity as students, faculty, staff, administration and parents. Catholic schools, like Saint James the Apostle, take pride in their educational achievements that take place within the framework of the Gospels and the Church.
Catholic Schools Week at Saint James will feature academic, social and spiritual activities that will energize and inspire the entire school community. This year, events include a Maasai Mission to end world hunger, Google Hangouts with other Catholic schools, creating video messages of gratitude for the Springfield Police and Fire Departments as well as the First Aid Squad and mayor, 8th grade Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee, Union County History presentation, 7th Grade living biographies presentation and an evening talent show. Events are planned and organized by faculty and staff. The Home & School Association will be sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair beginning on Sunday, January 29 during Open House through Wednesday, February 1.
Saint James the Apostle School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, offering a diverse range of academic programs from PreK-3 through Grade 8, state of the art technology, new science lab, enrichment classes, and a host of extracurricular activities during and after school. The school provides full and half-day Pre-K and full day Kindergarten as well as Before and After Care Programs.

Saint James the Apostle School has been serving the parishioners of Saint James the Apostle Church in Springfield and surrounding communities since 1953. Saint James the Apostle School offers all of its students a Roman Catholic faith-based education which acknowledges each child’s individual ability to achieve their fullest potential academically, socially, and spiritually.
