Saint James the Apostle School Student Wins Poster Contest

6th grader Andrea Falar one of 3 chosen in Newark Archdiocese poster contest!

New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families showcased the work of Catholic school students all across New Jersey at the State House during Catholic Schools Week. All New Jersey Catholic school students in Grades 6 to 8 were invited to create a poster project. The theme of the project was “How Catholic Schools Prepare Students to be Good Citizens”. Students made a poster which identified the many ways their school is preparing them to enter the world as good citizens.

Saint James was pleased that the poster created by Andrea Falar in the 6th grade was chosen to represent the Archdiocese of Newark. Andrea’s poster was one of three chosen among all entries submitted in the Archdiocese of Newark schools. Andrea, her parents and her Principal, Mrs. Caroline Ponterio, attended an event at the State House in Trenton on January 30th which included a tour of the State House, a reception where certificates were awarded, followed by a luncheon. The Falar family was also introduced to Senator Tom Kean, Jr. from New Jersey’s 21st Legislative District.

In addition to the Archdiocese of Newark, there were students from the Dioceses of Trenton, Camden, Metuchen and Paterson. We are so proud of our students for participating and for Andrea’s being chosen and representing Saint James the Apostle School.
