Saint James the Apostle School Students Put Down Roots for Arbor Day
Students participate in Township's Arbor Day Celebration.

The Springfield Township Committee invited all students in Springfield to celebrate Arbor Day, on April 29 at Veterans Park. The entire student body of Saint James the Apostle School, together with faculty and staff participated in the celebration. Members of the Township Committee, Springfield Environmental Commission and DPW were on hand to explain the importance of trees and how to plant a tree properly. School principal, Caroline Ponterio and middle school Science teacher, Jason Knevals had the honor of shoveling dirt on to the new tree planted at Veterans Park. Every student received a tree to take home with instructions on how best to to plant and take care of. The school looks forward to planting over 200 trees in the Springfield and neighboring communities.
Saint James the Apostle School has been serving the parishioners of Saint James the Apostle Church in Springfield and surrounding communities since 1953. Saint James the Apostle School offers students from PreK-3 through grade eight a Roman Catholic faith-based education which acknowledges each child's individual ability to achieve their fullest potential academically, socially, and spiritually.
