Saint James the Apostle Students are Water Conservation Citizens
Students participated in a half-day science program presented by L'Oreal with the theme "Water Conservation Camp".
On April 14, 2016, Saint James the Apostle School 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders participated in a half day science program sponsored by L’Oreal, based in Clark. The theme for the half day program was Water Conservation Camp.
Students were presented with information about the company and its corporate commitment to developing, innovating, producing and living sustainably. Students donned lab coats and name tags and received a pair of goggles. Working in groups, students were engaged in three different water conservation activities led by L’Oreal volunteer scientists and chemical engineers including a water filtration experiment, the different amounts of water required to rinse shampoo from hair and a discussion about the environmental impact of just one leaky faucet. Did you know that water from a leaky faucet can add up to 5 gallons of wasted water in one day? When the program ended, students signed a Water Conservation Pledge promising to save water at home, tell others about ways to conserve water and do their best as a water conservation citizen.
Annually, L’Oreal USA employees engage in volunteer activities to benefit local communities in five states including New Jersey. Last year, more than 2,700 employees gave back to local communities through service projects.
