Saint James the Apostle Students Participate in Springfield Veterans Memorial Service

Saint James the Apostle School students in Grades 1 through 8 had the privilege of attending the annual Springfield Veterans Day Memorial Service at Veterans Park. Students learned about veterans in their classes and prayed for those men and women who have, in their military service, sacrificed their time, strength, ambition, health and even their lives on this earth to benefit ‘friends,’ known and unknown.

As part of the ceremony, 8th grader Christina Tillinghast read aloud An Open Letter to Veterans which she wrote herself in the days leading up to the service. After, the student body sang “God Bless America.” Students had the extra special opportunity to speak with veterans at the end of the ceremony.
