Springfield Baker to Compete on Food Network's Cake Wars
Samantha Kestin is a mother of three and owner of Sweet Samantha where she bakes and decorates all of her cakes by herself.
Springfield, NJ -- Springfield-based mom and cake designer, Samantha Kestin will be competing on Food Network’s Cake Wars this Monday night.
Her episode airs on Monday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. where she will be competing in a special “Kung Fu Panda 3” challenge.
“I loved it,” Kestin said of her experience.

Mother of three, Kestin has been running her cake business for six years. Her love of cakes grew from her own artistic talents.
“I had always been an artist,” Kestin said. “I was always knitting, sewing or doing something.”

Kestin mastered in Art Therapy in college and when she had her first son, her husband Adam and her redesigned their kitchen.
“I started doing a lot of baking and fell in love,” Kestin said. “I am self taught as far as cake decorating goes and it snowballed from there.”
Kestin began selling cakes from her home and also started teaching cake decorating classes.
“I started teaching moms and friends and the business just took on a life of its own.”
Kestin’s business called “Sweet Samantha” is now going strong, as she competed on Food Network’s “Sweet Genius” in the past and also had cakes featured in Bride Magazine.
Cake Wars
Cake Wars was a little different than Kestin is used to since she is used to doing everything herself. Kestin bakes and decorates everything herself.
“Generally I am a one woman operation and all the pressure is on me, ” Kestin said.
On the show however, you work in a pair.
“What better partner to bring than my husband as my assistant,” Kestin said. “He learned quickly that some interesting stuff transpires while working under pressure. I loved the experience and it was super fun to go out to California.”
To celebrate her stardom, Kestin along with Adam and their three children and family and friends will be hosting a viewing party at the Grillstone restaurant on Route 22 in Scotch Plains.
