Springfield Blood Drive To Honor Detective John P. Patrick: How To Donate

The Springfield Police Department is hosting a blood drive in memory of Detective John P. Patrick.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Springfield residents will have an opportunity to donate blood in memory of Detective John P. Patrick later this month.

The Springfield Police Department will host the blood drive Monday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Chisholm Community Center, 100 South Springfield Avenue. New York Blood Center-New Jersey Blood Services is sponsoring the drive.

The police department is marking the second anniversary of the death of Detective John P. Patrick, who died Oct. 21, 2024, from injuries sustained in the line of duty.

While on active duty Oct. 6, 2024, Patrick suffered a medical episode stemming from an injury he sustained while serving as an instructor during departmental training.

The department remembered Patrick as a loving family man who left behind his wife, two young children and many other family members, adding that his loss left a lasting void within the Springfield Police Department family.
