Springfield Library Will Offer Free Creative Writing Class

Interested in creative writing? The Springfield Free Public Library's short story writing course begins tonight. The course is eight sessions, running from Sept. 15 to Dec. 15. Classes are held between 7:00 and 8:00 PM.

Dr. Andrea Green will be teaching the course. A recently retired professor, Dr. Green was a teacher and chair of the English Department at Union County College. She is a published playwright and the recipient of a Critic's Choice award.

In addition to writing, participants will read and discuss critically acclaimed short stories by writers such as William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, and Edgar Allan Poe. All texts will be provided to students at no charge.

Classes are open for those eighteen and older, and the course is free. Attendance at all eight sessions, although not mandatory, is highly encouraged.

And don't worry-- the class is just for fun, so there will be no homework or exams.
