Springfield Primary Election Results 2017
Here is a look at how the township voted in the primary Tuesday.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The New Jersey primaries on Tuesday had a pretty low voter turnout with only about 14 percent showing up to the polls in Union County.
A total of 47,668 ballots were cast out of the 320,260 registered voters in Union County.
Locally in Springfield Township there were no contested races in the primary with two - 3 year seats up for grab.

Vote totals for Springfield municipal candidates:
- Christopher Capodice, Dem - 764
- Geri Ann Bujnowski, Rep - 250
The Union County Sheriff was a contested race with two democrats vying for one - 3 year term for county sheriff.

Democrat Peter Corvelli of Kenilworth bested Gail Smith Alexander of Plainfield for county sheriff. Corvelli received 81.35 percent or 22,463 votes while Alexander got 18.60 percent or 5,136 votes.
Marc A. Krauss of Springfield was the only Republican vying for a sheriff spot.
The county freeholder race was also uncontested with three - 3 year term seats open.

- Angel Estrada, Dem - 25,026
- Christopher Hudak, Dem - 23,861
- Angela R. Garretson, Dem - 24,004
- Patricia Quattrocchi, Rep - 6,194
- P. Mark Martini, Rep - 6,198
- Peter B. Lijoi, Rep - 6,064
