Springfield Wind Advisory In Effect As Nor’easter Nears

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A wind advisory is now in effect for Springfield, with rain and stronger gusts expected as a Nor’easter approaches.

The National Weather Service forecast for Springfield says the advisory began at 2 p.m. Friday and runs until 6 a.m. Sunday. North winds could gust as high as 38 mph Friday night and 41 mph Saturday.

The weather service’s wind advisory says tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Gusty winds could also blow around unsecured objects.

Rain is likely by early Saturday, according to the forecast. The weather service then expects rain during the day Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday. Its regional briefing calls the approaching system a Nor’easter and says inland areas could see gusts of 30 to 45 mph.

The Springfield forecast calls for rain Sunday even after the wind advisory is scheduled to end that morning. Residents can follow the town-specific forecast for updates.
