Stew Leonard's Wines & Spirits Celebrates Grand Opening

Friends, neighbors, dignitaries and wine-world celebs raise a glass for Springfield's newest wine merchant

Saturday marked the official ribbon-cutting opening for Springfield's new wine store, Stew Leonard's Wine & Spirits.  Not only does the store offer a selection of thousands of bottles to choose from, but also its management gathers raves, having been named one of Fortune Magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work  For.

Dozens of Springfield residents and dignitaries showed up to make a welcoming toast to the Echo Plaza store including Township Committeeman Jerry Fernandez who noted "It's always wonderful to see new business come into town, especially established ones like Stew Leonard."

Committeeman Marc Krauss concurred. "It's great for the residents and great for the business, too," he said. "Springfield is the right place for business."

Rob Reynolds, Assistant Manager told Patch "We're all very excited to be in the newly refurbished store, and we're looking forward to years of serving the town."

Jerry Cioffi of Cioffi's Fine Italian Food & Imported Products said "I've been in business in Springfield for 30 years and am happy to welcome this great establishment. As one family business owner to another I welcome Stew Leonard's to Springfield. It's a wonderful day."

"I welcome this quality, innovative organization on behalf of all Springfield," Committeeman Hugh Keffer said as he cut the ribbon and kicked off the celebration. Patrick Paolella, the Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce Co-Chair, Patrick Paolella, presenting a plaque to commemorate the opening.

Stew Leonard, Jr. then addressed the gathering, recounting the store's history and philosophy. "We opened our first wine store in Yonkers in 1999 and this is our ninth opening. We offer personal service to all customers in our store -- our team members are well trained and can help find whatever kind of wine you are looking for."

The new store is at the Echo Plaza shopping center. Its street address is 901 Mountain Avenue and its phone is 908-379-2930. It is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
