SUMMIT, NJ — Warmer weather is bringing a busy stretch of events back to downtown Summit, with markets, live music and family-friendly activities filling the calendar in the weeks ahead.
The Summit Downtown Farmers Market has returned for its 33rd season and runs every Sunday through Dec. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Park & Shop Lot on DeForest Avenue. The market features vendors from across New Jersey and offers free parking.
One of the bigger events on the horizon is Family Fun Night, set for Thursday, June 4. From 4 to 8 p.m., Beechwood Road and Bank Street will close to traffic and turn into a space for free activities, live entertainment and interactive attractions geared toward families.
Downtown Summit will also host two World Cup watch parties this summer, giving residents a chance to gather and watch matches outdoors. The Bank Street parking lot is expected to close June 11 for an opening match event and again July 19 for a championship watch party.
Both events are expected to feature food trucks and a large outdoor screen for spectators.
Live music will also return as part of the Summit Street Sounds series, with performances scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays in June and July, with some holiday exceptions.
