SUMMIT, NJ — Residents interested in volunteering in emergency medical services may soon find it easier to get started, following a new partnership announced by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad.
The squad shared that it has partnered with Less Stress Instructional Services to bring year-round EMT certification courses directly to its headquarters in Summit. The goal, according to the announcement, is to make training more accessible for local residents who want to enter the field or volunteer with the squad.
By hosting the courses on-site, officials said the program is intended to remove barriers such as travel and scheduling challenges that can sometimes discourage participation.
“We are proud to announce a formal partnership with Less Stress Instructional Services,” the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad said in a statement. “This collaboration brings year-round, initial EMT certification courses directly to our headquarters. By hosting these trainings on-site, we’re making it easier than ever for local residents to start their careers in EMS and join our team of dedicated volunteers.”
The squad noted that the initiative is focused on expanding the pipeline of trained EMTs while also supporting its volunteer ranks, which serve Summit residents during emergencies throughout the year.
Officials did not announce specific start dates for the first round of training sessions but said additional details will be shared as the program moves forward.
