SUMMIT, NJ — If you're driving around Summit this week, you may want to plan ahead.
Road work and utility projects are scheduled at multiple locations throughout the city beginning Monday, June 29, with drivers likely to encounter temporary road closures, detours and traffic delays in several neighborhoods.
Most of the work is expected to take place between 8 a.m. and approximately 4 p.m., according to city officials.
The following locations are scheduled for work on Monday, June 29, and Tuesday, June 30:
• Laurel Avenue
• Springfield Avenue and Pine Grove Avenue
• Blackburn Road and Blackburn Place
• Chatham Road and River Road
• Mountain Avenue and Elm Street
• Prospect Street and Larned Road
• Springfield Avenue and Ashland Avenue
Additional work is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, at all of the locations listed above, along with:
• Madison Avenue and Webster Avenue (8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m.)
• Morris Avenue near Webster Avenue (9:30 a.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m.)
The projects involve work being performed by utility companies including New Jersey American Water, PSE&G and CCG.
City officials noted that schedules can change throughout the week as utility companies adjust their work plans, and residents are encouraged to check the city's website for the latest updates before traveling through affected areas.
Drivers traveling near construction zones are encouraged to allow extra time and follow posted detours and traffic directions.
