Residents Still Without Power In Summit: Here's The Latest

SUMMIT, NJ — Some Summit residents remain without power following last week’s storms, but officials say most of the larger outages across the city have now been restored.

In a July 7 update, city officials said JCP&L is reporting that the remaining outages are smaller and more complex to repair, requiring additional time and work from crews.

According to the utility, outages affecting more than 20 customers are expected to be restored by Wednesday, July 8. Smaller outages affecting fewer than 20 customers may not be restored until Thursday, July 9.

Officials said they understand the ongoing outages have been difficult for residents who have been without electricity since late last week and said they remain in contact with JCP&L as repair work continues.

“We know this has been a very long and difficult process for everyone who has been without power since late last week,” city officials said in the update.

Crews are also continuing to address storm-related damage throughout Summit, including downed trees and wires that have contributed to road closures in some areas.

Residents are encouraged to use caution while traveling and check the latest road closure information from the Summit Police Department.

The Summit Community Center remains available as a charging center through Thursday, July 9, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Residents can continue monitoring power restoration updates through the JCP&L outage map as crews work to complete remaining repairs.
