Here's What To Do With Storm-Damaged Tree Branches In Summit

SUMMIT, NJ — If the July 3 storm left tree branches scattered across your yard, Summit officials have a plan to help residents clear them away.

The city's Division of Public Works will begin a one-time brush collection the week of July 13 for storm-related debris.

Residents should place brush at the curb on their regular garbage collection day. Because crews expect to collect a large amount of storm debris, pickups may take longer than usual.

If your brush is not collected on your scheduled collection day, officials ask residents to leave it at the curb and be patient as crews continue making their rounds.

There are a few guidelines for what will and won't be collected.

Branches and logs larger than 6 inches in diameter or 10 feet in length will not be picked up. The city also will not collect debris generated by lawn care contractors or other types of yard waste, including grass clippings, leaves and rocks, through this special collection.

The one-time pickup is intended to help residents dispose of brush left behind by the July 3 storm.
