The sessions will be facilitated by psychoanalyst, Alina Enista, PhD and humanities educator, Nancy Gross, MA, MMH. During each session, you can expect to read a short literary selection. Following will be a discussion in response to the reading, a short reflective writing experience and sharing. Writing is done without regard to spelling and grammar. Discussions and writings will evoke deep feelings of your own experience with Parkinson's disease.
Sharing your reflective writing with the class is optional.
Research has proven that people who write about their hurts and traumas feel less frustrated and improve their immune system. Writing has the capacity to heal - be it of disappointment, loss or illness.
Reflective writing, when we are both observer and observed, makes us feel less afraid and less vulnerable. It helps us cope.
Both facilitators will guide and support the sharing process. Reading and writing materials will be provided.
