The public is invited to a free concert of handbell music on April 29, 2018 at 4:30 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Summit, NJ.

The sound of 1,300 handbells will be heard in a free concert open to the public on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 4:30 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Summit, NJ. Members and directors of twelve bell choirs will gather at 2 PM to sight-read and learn a variety of easy and more challenging music. One piece, an arrangement of the hymn “Joyful, Joyful,” will be performed by all the choirs using mallets to ring the bells on padded tables. A flutist will accompany an arrangement of “This Is My Father’s World,” and percussion will help to bring to life an arrangement of the South African hymn, “Amen Siakudumisa.” In addition, four choirs will present individual solos.
Bell choirs participating in St. John’s third handbell festival hail from the Chatham United Methodist Church, Madison United Methodist Church, Morristown United Methodist Church, Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church in Metuchen, Kitchell Memorial Presbyterian Church in East Hanover, Lutheran Church of the Savior in Haddonfield, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldwick, and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Summit.
