Summit Cancels All After-School Activities Due to Nor'easter

Breaking: Summit public schools are preemptively canceling all afternoon activities due to the storm.

SUMMIT, NJ — With 50 to 60 mph wind gusts Monday afternoon and some towns already reporting flooding, Summit City public schools are preemptively canceling all afternoon activities, the school announced Monday.

Weather conditions are supposed to deteriorate over the course of the day Monday, and into the evening.

"Superintendent June Chang has canceled ALL after-school activities for students and staff of Summit Public Schools," the school announced.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Central New Jersey starting Monday, Jan. 23 from 3 a.m. until 9 p.m. Winds are expected to gust as high as 55 mph with the strongest winds expected to occur during the day on Monday. Periods of heavy rain and possible flooding are also expected.
