SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Common Council voted Tuesday to approve its $51.7 million 2020 budget, which had been amended at the May 26 meeting to account for revenue losses amid coronavirus. The budget amounts for a penny increase in the tax rate, climbing to $8.54 per $1,000 of assessed property.

The municipal budget only affects approximately a fifth of residents' property tax bill. The largest amount goes to the school budget and to Union County taxes.
