Summit Schools To Close Wednesday

Breaking: Summit Public Schools will close on Wednesday due to impending storm.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Public Schools are closed Wednesday, due to inclement weather.

Additionally, based on snowfall totals and potentially hazardous conditions, parents should plan for a possible delayed opening on Thursday morning, the district announced.

An update will be provided on Wednesday evening regarding the district's status.

Union County College and Kean University are closed on Wednesday.

As many as 18 inches of heavy, wet snow could fall, creating the potential for power outages across the state. The double-wave storm, the fourth possible nor'easter to hit New Jersey in three weeks, could be a "long-duration event" packing 45 mph winds. The bulk of the storm is expected to come in two waves, especially on Wednesday, and could extend the nor'easter to a 36-hour system.
