Breaking: Summit Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, due to weather.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, due to weather.

Summit Public Schools Superintendent June Chang also announced weather contingency plans for Wednesday, March 15:

Due to the snowfall totals projected for Tuesday, which may have an impact on Wednesday's scheduled single session school day, we are communicating the following contingency plans.

Please note, that at this time, we have made no weather-related decisions regarding the closing of school. Below are contingency plans that would go into effect should we be forced to delay or cancel school on Wednesday, March 15th.

Delayed Opening:

If there is a delayed opening on Wednesday, students and staff would follow the Delayed Opening schedule for arrival and would remain in school throughout the day with a normal dismissal time. In that scenario, there would be no early dismissal as currently scheduled. The single session day for students and Professional Development program for staff would be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

School Closure:

If school is closed on Wednesday, March 15th, the single session day for students and the Professional Development program for staff would be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

Regular School Opening:

If there is a regular opening on Wednesday, March 15th, the single session day for students and the Professional Development program for staff would proceed as planned.

Please note that we will follow our regular notification protocols to provide families and staff with snow-related information which include the following: Honeywell Instant Alerts, the Summit Public Schools website and the district's social media outlets.
