TEANECK, NJ — The township has opened an emergency cooling center in response to an extreme heat watch for the area.
The cooling center will be at the Richard Rodda Center (250 Colonial Court) to provide residents with a safe, air-conditioned place to escape the dangerous heat.

In addition, Bergen County Cooling Centers will be open July 1 through July 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents are encouraged to check the county's website for locations and additional details.
Health officials warn that prolonged periods of high temperatures and humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses. Older adults, people with chronic medical or mental health conditions, and those without air conditioning are at greater risk.
Residents are encouraged to stay in air-conditioned spaces, remain hydrated, and check on vulnerable friends, family members, and neighbors during the heat advisory.
