Bergen County Town Asks Resident To Close Windows Overnight: Here's Why

The Bergen County town asked residents to keep windows closed overnight. Here's when and why.

TEANECK, NJ — Wet, warm weather brings mosquitos who lay eggs, and sting humans. Local towns are trying to cut down.

Bergen County Mosquito Control will be performing an early morning ULV Truck Spray in Teaneck on Friday, meaning it might be useful to close your windows before going to sleep on Thursday night.

The spraying will take place Friday between 3 and 6 a.m., officials said.

They said in a message, "In compliance with N.J.A.C. Title 7, Chapter 30 the Bergen County Mosquito & Vector Control BCMC may be applying insecticides for the control of adult mosquito populations on an area-wide basis, as needed, throughout Bergen County during the period of April 30, 2026, through October 31."

The following adult mosquito control products will be applied from the ground by truck, handheld equipment, or aircraft, all using low volume (LV) or ultra-low volume (ULV) techniques:
