TEANECK, NJ — Teaneck is brewing up a weekend of fun, with a movie, block party and fireworks on the calendar.
Teaneck Day Weekend begins Saturday, October 10, with a 7:45 p.m. screening of "Hocus Pocus" at the Votee Park bandshell. Admission and popcorn are free, and moviegoers can bring blankets or lawn chairs for the show under the stars.
The classic Halloween comedy follows three witches accidentally resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts as a group of young people races to stop them. With witches, magic and plenty of spooky fun, "Hocus Pocus" fits neatly into Teaneck's October festivities.
The celebration moves to Cedar Lane between Elm Avenue and American Legion Drive from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 11. The block party will feature food trucks, live music, community tables, character meet and greets and a Kids Zone, along with a celebration of Teaneck schools and community.
Teaneck Day gives residents a chance to enjoy a family-friendly celebration alongside neighbors, local officials, township staff, first responders, TVAC volunteers, business representatives and Holy Name Medical Center employees.
The township thanked Cedar Lane Management Group, the Chamber of Commerce, T.H. Experiences and A.K. Productions for helping organize this year's celebration. Sanzari Enterprises and Holy Name Medical Center are sponsoring the evening fireworks display, according to the township advisory.
The festivities wrap up with a fireworks "spectacular" at 8 p.m. at the Votee Park Sportsplex. The rain dates are Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18.
