1 Injured In Toms River Shooting: Prosecutor

A man suffered life-threatening injuries in the shooting on Main Street, the prosecutor said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man with life-threatening injuries Sunday evening in Toms River.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little said the man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune following the shooting, which happened about 8:30 p.m. on Main Street.

Billhimer and Little said there is no danger to the public at this time.

They did not provide any details about the man's age or hometown, nor did they give specifics about the location on Main Street where the shooting happened.

The Asbury Park Press reported the shooting happened at the Toms River Apartments.

The prosecutor’s office Major Crime Unit, Toms River police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are investigating, they said.
