2-Day Power Outage After Crash Damages 8 Poles In Toms River
About 155 homes may be without power until Sunday, Toms River officials said. JCP&L offers free ice and water for the affected homes.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Residents in the area of Chestnut Street in Toms River will be without electric service possibly until Sunday, after a truck caught a wire and brought down eight utility poles on Friday, Toms River officials said.
Township officials said Jersey Central Power & Light crews are working on the poles that were damaged about 11 a.m. Friday when a truck clipped a Verizon wire.
There are 155 homes affected by the outage, Toms River officials said.

JCP&L has arranged for free ice and water for residents affected by the outage, available at the ShopRite at 2 Route 37, Toms River officials said.
Chestnut Street will remain closed between Hooper Avenue and Formicola Street to through traffic — residents on that street will be able to drive in and out, officials said.
