It’s Week 3 of the NJSIAA high school football season, and the headline this week is the always-anticipated “Civil War” between Toms River North and Toms River South.

The Mariners host the game, which also is highlighted as a “Great American Rivalry” game.

North (1-1) is coming off a tough loss to Brick Memorial last weekend and will be looking for a bounce-back win -- just as they were last year when the Mariners surprised Toms River South.

The Indians, meanwhile, are looking to complete a Toms River sweep, after beating Donovan Catholic in South’s opener and topping Toms River East last weekend in a tight game.

East (0-2), whose starting quarterback went down with a shoulder injury last week, is scheduled to host Brick on Saturday evening at 7.

Donovan Catholic is off this week.
