2023 Flu Vaccine Clinics Offered By Ocean County Health Department

Residents who want to receive vaccines for pneumonia or COVID-19 can get those as well at the clinics, health department officials said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Ocean County Health Department will be holding flu vaccine clinics across the county for residents who are seeking vaccinations for the 2023 flu season.

In addition, the county will be offering pneumonia vaccinations and COVID-19 vaccinations at the clinics, which begin Oct. 7.

In addition to the clinics scheduled across the county (see the schedule at the bottom of this article) there will be clinics each Monday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Ocean County Health Department, 175 Sunset Ave., Toms River.

The Ocean County Health Department asks that residents make an appointment through the department's website for its clinics, but walk-ins will be accepted.

"The OCHD continues to recommend that every year all people 6 months of age and older be vaccinated against seasonal flu," health department officials said. "Vaccination is especially important for pregnant women and people with chronic diseases. The flu vaccine protects against several different flu viruses (strains)."

"Flu vaccines are updated every year to better match the viruses circulating in the public," the department said. "Getting the flu vaccine cannot give you the flu! The vaccine is made with inactive (killed) virus strains which are not infectious."

The flu and COVID-19 vaccines will be provided with no out-of-pocket costs, with insurance documentation. Individuals who do not have insurance can still receive a vaccine through the county's uninsured-underinsured cost program.
