Coming in with a cash value of $930 million, the jackpot for the Wednesday drawing is certain to create many winners across New Jersey and the United States.
But there will be plenty of other winners, too. New Jersey had 29 in the Saturday drawing, each getting $50,000. The winning locations were announced on Monday.
Folks who are not regular players are now getting into the game either individually or as a part of a group play pool, lottery officials say.
“Buying tickets in a group pool among friends or in the office is an exciting way to get into the game,” Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery executive director, said in a release. “We encourage players to play responsibly and playing in a group is a great way to manage the purchase. You only need one ticket in order to win.”
New Jersey celebrated the Ocean’s 16 group win from the Aug. 7, 2013 Powerball drawing when they shared the $448.4 million jackpot with another New Jersey ticketholder and a third ticketholder from Minnesota.
Having two jackpot winning tickets in the same state from one drawing had not occurred for 20 years prior to that drawing, lottery officials said. That jackpot was the sixth largest in Lottery history.
Wednesday’s drawing was the 20th since the roll began on Nov. 7, 2015. With each draw, thousands of New Jersey Lottery players became winners of cash prizes.
In total, more than 1.7 million New Jersey tickets were winners, giving back more than $12.5 million in prizes to players. The roll has created one $1 million winner, 49 $50,000 winners and four $100,000 winners.

According to the official Powerball website, the jackpot is won by matching all five white balls, in any order, and the red Powerball. But if you miss that coveted Powerball, you can still win a cool million dollars.

“We encourage everyone to check their tickets. There are prizes at many levels so matching just the Powerball number can claim a prize,” Hedinger said.
New Jersey Lottery players have one year from the draw date to claim a ticket. Players are reminded to add Power Play onto their ticket purchase for an additional dollar to multiply the prize amounts by up to ten times.
New Jersey joined the Powerball game in February 2010. Since participating, New Jersey has taken home six jackpot prizes for a total winner payout of $553,074,151.
