6 Taken To Hospitals After 3-Vehicle Crash On Route 9 In Toms River
Three of the injured people were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Six people were injured Sunday evening in a three-vehicle crash on Route 9, Toms River police said.
The crash happened about 7:40 p.m. on Route 9 near the intersection of Hecht Drive, said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.
The initial investigation revealed Elvis Guadulupe Dominguez Avila was driving south on Route 9 when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an oncoming vehicle, forcing the second vehicle off the road and into a driveway exit, where it struck a third vehicle, Messina said. There was no hometown available for Dominguez Avila, she said.

There were six people among the three vehicles, she said, and all six were taken to hospitals for treatment. Three of the six were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, and the other three were taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus and Community Medical Center, Messina said.
Assisting at the scene were the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff CSI, and the New Jersey state Diversion team.

The accident remains under investigation by the Toms River Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and charges were pending, she said.
