7 Candidates Seeking 3 Seats On Toms River Regional School Board

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Regional Board of Education election in November has seven candidates vying for three seats.

The seats are three-year terms on the board, which has nine members total.

Current board president Ashley Lamb and vice president James Capone are seeking re-election to their seats. Lamb is seeking her third term on the board. Capone is seeking his second term.

Board member Jennifer Howe, who was appointed to finish out the term vacated when Paola Pascarella resigned in February, was not listed among the candidates who submitted petitions by the Ocean County Clerk's office.

Seeking election as a three-person slate are Laura Picurro, Anthony Colucci and Elizabeth Huber, who are running under the slogan "Finance, Education, Accountability".

Picurro is the director of Human Services for Toms River Township and oversees the Senior Center.

Colucci ran for the Ward 1 seat on the Toms River Township Council in 2025 and was defeated by Robert Bianchini. He is the president of the Ortley Beach Voters and Taxpayers Association.

Huber is a newcomer who has not run for election to any position.

Also running is Gerald "Jerry" Nappi, who listed his slogan as "God, Country, Family". He is the vice president of sales and business development at MicroTech, according to his LinkedIn account.

The seventh candidate is Kriten Hanson, who is running under the slogan "Educating Students Responsibly". She is the interim director of student support services in the Rahway Schools and had been the supervisor of special services for the Brick Township Schools.
