Lightning Strike Knocks Out Power To Ortley Beach Homes
About 1,000 homes and businesses in the area were affected, JCP&L said.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — A lightning strike during Saturday morning's storm caused a power outage that left most of Ortley Beach without power for a few hours, the power company said.
The lightning strike damaged equipment, knocking out power to about 1,000 homes and businesses, said Mark Nitowski, a spokesman for JCP&L.
Crews were able to restore power by about 11 a.m., Nitowski said.
