At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, units were dispatched to Monmouth Road and Burnt Tavern Road in Jackson for a vehicle under a tractor-trailer.
Squad 32 arrived to find two people entrapped, the fire department said.
Putting Holmatro tools into service, first responders were able to gain access to the people trapped, and additional resources were returned to service.
Millstone Fire Department ambulances then transported the two patients for treatment.
According to a report from NJ.com, the victims were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
The victims' identities and details on their condition have not been released.
According to the Millstone Township Fire Department, the incident was one of eight runs answered on Wednesday, including multiple motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies and a box alarm.
While the fire department was responding to the entrapment incident, a utility pole fire was handled by Manalapan Township Fire Company 1 and Freehold Township Independent Fire Company 1.
The Millstone Fire Department described that assistance as "yet another example of the mutual aid system at work."
