Examine Cranberries’ Chronology at the Ocean County Library LBI Branch

SURF CITY – Every fall, cranberries are harvested throughout South Jersey. Get a glimpse of local Pine Barrens harvesting history during "It's Cranberry Time!" at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at the Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library.

Witness the evolution of the cranberry bogs at the uniquely named former company town of Double Trouble Village. The village housed one of the state's largest cranberry operations for most of the 20th century.

Interpretive staffers from Double Trouble Village Historic Site will share dramatic images and rare videos of labor-intensive dry picking and modern water harvesting of cranberries still performed today.
