TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Township Council is holding a special meeting Monday, Oct. 19.
The meeting was announced as a change from what was initially scheduled as a regular meeting on Oct. 14.
The public notice, published Oct. 1, says the meeting includes "action items requiring immediate action regarding affordable housing compliance."
No agenda was available online as of 11:40 a.m. Monday.
The township has been working on its plans to satisfy its affordable housing obligation and satisfy objections to it for more than a year.
Some of those objections have come from the majority of the Township Council, which has been in conflict with Mayor Daniel Rodrick since the start of the year.
The town's proposed affordable housing plans have changed multiple times over the last year, as some of the initial developers dropped out of agreements, and as the town withdrew a proposal to use property off Route 70 after Lake Ridge residents complained.
According to court records, the next hearing on the town's affordable housing plans is scheduled for Dec. 7 before Judge Sean Gertner. The records say submissions are due to the court by Oct. 30.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the L. Manuel Hirshblond Meeting Room on the second floor of town hall at 33 Washington St.
